Brand – How is your business perceived?

Your “brand” is what your prospect thinks of when he or she hears your business name. It’s everything the public thinks it knows about your business offering—both factual and emotional.

I met with a business owner this week eager to invest in his brand. He has a vision and I can help him achieve it with a professional website.

Are you ready to invest in your brand? Hire a design professional and you can achieve your vision.  Strong brands need powerful imagery (lose the stock photos), I work closely with a professional photographer. Your brand may need a professional to manage your messaging on social media, I know an expert. Branding is about details and feeling; have a retail space that could use a interior designer to create the right ambiance in a room? Guess what? I have just the person for you.  Work closely with a team of professionals to control how prospects perceive and experience your business.

Are you worried about what your competitor is doing? Are you guilty of  having a competitor’s flyer on your desk or following competitor social media pages to get ideas? Why compete with the competition, when you can exceed it with a strong brand built by professionals.

Tip from a designer on choosing fonts

Choosing font combinations for your graphic/website design can be tedious; use Google Fonts to save time and money

As a designer or non-designer you want to pick font combinations that compliment your message and compliment one another. Whether you are a designing personal blog page or a wedding save the date, the same basic rules apply: 1) pick legible fonts , 2) Pick fonts that portray the appropriate mood or style of the topic/event,  3) limit your font selection to 1 or 2 fonts, sometimes 3 (4 is pushing it!). Don’t over do it. My secret to picking the font combinations quickly? GOOGLE FONTS! \

Google fonts is a tool I use time and again and I urge you to check it out for  guidance with font combinations or for inspiration to try something new in your graphic design or website projects.

Top 5 reasons I use Google fonts for choosing fonts and why you should too:

  1. Hundreds of FREE, open source fonts
(My go to for finding these FREE for commercial-use font downloads is
  2. Fonts are optimized for the web and Google fonts provides css to embed fonts into your website. (great to keep in mind if you will be using for branding online and in print
  3. Google fonts offers a “Pairings” feature that gives you suggestions on the font combinations (which other fonts work well together)(HANDS DOWN BEST FEATURE!)
    Found under Pop-Out> Pairings
    Example: Open Sans pairings
  4. Preview tool to see how fonts will display
  5. Character set preview of every style of font available
    Example: Open Sans Character Set

Save time browsing through 1000s of fonts and Google searching “font combinations.” Been there, done that! When in search of font combos or font pairings use Google fonts  for your next design project.

Happy designing 🙂

It’s All About Energy – Print Design

Print Design for psychic medium and paranormal expert Linda Callahan

Last week I was graced with a phone call for help with a print design project. Linda Callahan is a psychic medium and paranormal expert. She called with an incredible message to share but also she was inspired to ask for help with her marketing material for a Psychic Reading Show being held only a few days away. Long story short, Linda has not mastered the computer, internet or similar technologies but we worked around it. She sent the event details via text and I sent her the 8.5 x 11 flyer proof I created via text.

The 8.5″ x 11″ flyer design was beyond what she expected. Linda had me email the files to the printer immediately so she could run around and post them on community bulletin boards in Wilbraham, East Longmeadow, Hampden, Agawam and Springfield to grow a following.

In all of this Linda brought up a great point that rings true with all businesses and individuals. “You can have a great idea, product or service but if you can’t communicate it to the world nobody will know about it.” By having a design expert create custom flyers, marketing material, ads, and other collateral your message, “vibe”, level of expertise and content are all clear, organized and presented professionally.

Web design Beaudoin Stonescape

Web Design for Beaudoin Stonescapes

Jesse Beaudoin, owner of Beaudoin Stonescapes, came to Dawn Hebert Graphics + Web for a web redesign and mobile site development.

Beaudoin Stonescapes offers Commercial & Residential Stone Masonry and Landscape Construction in Western Massachusetts. Beaudoin Stonescapes needed a web design that was mobile-friendly for easier access for the large percentage of mobile web browsers.

Beaudoin Stonescapes Web Design & Mobile Website

Web design

The Beaudoin Stonescapes web redesign is refreshing and professional. A website is an ideal tool to display projects and provide visuals for future customers. The new site is easy to navigate, customers can easily find answers to questions and easily get contact information for questions, inquiries and quotes. Business owners cannot always be present to sell products to prospective customers, an intuitive website can deliver all the products, features and visuals to your customer including the first impression.

With a professionally designed website you can increase the presence of your business beyond word of mouth referrals and face to face meetings. “Over 100 billion Google searches are made a month” and “over half of Google searches now come from mobile.” (DMR Google Analytics Report | February 2016) Reaching customers the way they research (web searches) and offering a mobile-friendly platform will improve your business visibility amoungst competition. Website Mobilization

The mobile-friendly website for Beaudoin Stonescapes will increase SEO (search engine optimization) in search engines like Google, offers user-friendly navigation, displays his professional brand seamlessly, allows for an improved user experience, and loads quickly on any mobile device.

Startup Logo Design for Pristine

Startup Logo Design for Pristine Maintenance

Pristine Maintenance Logo by Dawn Hebert
Startup logo design– every business startup needs logo design. This startup logo design project began as a referral project for a company that needed help in the area of graphic design. Michael was starting his business Pristine Maintenance of Western MA from the ground up and had only a simple business card designed when he contacted me for graphic design help.

Michael sent over color preferences, an example logo with the look and feel that he wanted for the graphic design of  his logo. With Michael’s ideas, I was able to create a professional, clean logo as the first asset of his professional maintenance company branding.

With the new logo, Michael immediately wanted to design business cards for himself and two other business associates. Check out the new logo and business card design below for the start up company Pristine Maintenance.

Alegria Dance & Fitness, Ludlow

Freelance Graphic Design - Alegria Dance & Fitness, Ludlow

Graphic Design for Alegria Dance & Fitness, Ludlow

Alegria Dance & Fitness of Ludlow, MA needed graphic design for their event Fitcation to Cancun Mexico. The dance studio also offers summer dance camps during school vacation. The owner needed multiple brochures designed to share the schedule and registration with students for both events.  The final products were 8.5″ x 11″ full-color flyers designed to display all of the event details.

Double-sided full color flyers are a great option to market any event. Targeted design helps attract customers who will be interested in your product. Leaving professionally designed flyers out at the studio spiked the interests of students and parents. Interested students and parents were able to keep a flyer and bring it home. The flyers not only had bright graphics and amazing imagery but the flyers also included many answers to the questions parents might have about these events. The flyers listed features and benefits of the events and important information like times, dates, locations and contact information.

Thouin Wedding Invitation

This year I was able to create the invitation and other custom pieces for a special couple’s wedding. The invitations display the same design as the intricate beading detail of the bride’s gorgeous dress. With access to many other options, bride’s have been taking less traditional routes to spread the news about the big day.
